Fujian launched a Class IV emergency response to heavy rain.
According to the latest weather situation forecast, there will be heavy rain and strong convective weather in Fujian from this evening to the 24th. The Fujian Meteorological Bureau launched a Class IV emergency response to major meteorological disasters (heavy rain) at 17: 00 on the 22nd, requiring meteorological departments at all levels in the province to strengthen monitoring and early warning, and do emergency response and various meteorological services in strict accordance with the workflow of meteorological disaster emergency response.
Affected by the eastward movement of low-level shear and the southerly jet, Fujian province ushered in the first strong convection and rainstorm process this year from the 22nd to the 24th, with the accumulated rainfall of 80-150mm, and the local rainfall can reach 200mm. Thunderstorms are accompanied by strong convective weather such as short-term heavy precipitation, 8-10 thunderstorm gale or hail.
Today, there is hail weather in the northwest of Fujian, with the largest hail with a diameter of 60 mm in Zhenghe. According to the forecast of Fujian Meteorological Observatory, there will be moderate rain to heavy rain in the central and northern regions during the day from this evening to the 23rd, with heavy rain in most parts of Sanming, Nanping (Yanping, Jianyang, Shunchang, Jian ‘ou, Guangze, Shaowu and Wuyishan), Ningde (Gutian, Pingnan, Shouning and Fuan), Longyan (Changting and Liancheng) and Quanzhou (Dehua). The maximum hourly rainfall is 60mm. From the night of the 23rd to the day of the 24th, there was heavy rain to heavy rain in the central and northern areas, with heavy rain in some areas. From the night of 24th to the day of 25th, there was moderate rain to heavy rain and local heavy rain in the central and southern areas.
The meteorological department reminded that the precipitation in most areas of Fujian was significantly less in the early stage, and this round of rainfall played an obvious role in increasing soil moisture, which was beneficial to the storage of farmland reservoirs. However, in areas with strong local rainfall, it may also bring the risk of farmland waterlogging, so agricultural production should take precautions in advance according to local conditions.
