In order to consolidate the achievements of shed reform, Aershan City has continuously improved its infrastructure. In recent years, 80 kilometers of roads and 155 kilometers of pipe networks have been built and rebuilt, and the lighting rate, tap water penetration rate and garbage disposal rate in urban areas have reached 95%, 98.14% and 99.69% respectively, completely solving the problems of residents’ difficulty in heating, drinking water and it is hard to go.
Aershan City has also won the title of pilot city for green development of urban and rural construction in the autonomous region, and has successfully created autonomous region-level garden cities and scenic spots. Bai Yuhua, a manager who has worked in dural Forest Farm of Aershan City for 32 years, witnessed the changes in the ecological environment of the forest area after the logging was stopped.

Aershan City earnestly practiced the concept of "two mountains" and adhered to ecological priority and green development. In 2002, it began to ban grazing and return farmland, and in 2012, it took the lead in stopping logging in state-owned forest farms in Inner Mongolia. Since 2014, the ecological environment protection work has been continuously promoted, with a total of 16.5 million mu of natural forest protection projects, 1.2 million mu of closing hillsides for afforestation, 400,000 mu of afforestation, 250,000 mu of returning farmland to forests and grasslands, and 15,000 mu of greening in key areas. At present, the city’s forest coverage rate is 81.2%, the green vegetation coverage rate is over 95%, and both groundwater and surface water meet Class III standards.
