Tensions in northern Kosovo escalate Serbian review force
China news agency, Beijing, December 28-Belgrade News: According to the New Yugoslavia News Agency, on the 27th local time, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Vucevic and Serbian Army Chief of Staff Moisilovic reviewed the troops. The Serbian Ministry of Defence said in a statement that the morale of the Serbian army and police force is high and they are ready to carry out all tasks quickly and firmly.
According to the TASS news agency, Serbian Prime Minister Anna Brnabic said on the same day that the Serbian army was on high alert and Serbia would be ready to respond if anyone attacked Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.
Recently, the situation in northern Kosovo has escalated, and local Serb residents protested that the Kosovo authorities arrested former Serb policemen and set up roadblocks on major roads, which triggered conflicts. According to the Associated Press, Kosovo has asked NATO-led peacekeepers stationed there to remove roadblocks.
According to the New Yugoslavia News Agency, Serbian President Vucic said on the 27th that he was negotiating with international representatives to safeguard and ensure peace and reach a compromise solution. He pointed out that the threat of Kosovo leader Courtie is "hysterical", and its goal is to expel Serbs from northern Kosovo forever, while some western countries are also threatening because they think this is the only solution to the problem.
On 26th, Vucic ordered Serbian armed forces to enter the highest level of combat readiness to protect Serbia’s territorial and sovereign integrity. In February 2008, Kosovo unilaterally declared its independence, and Serbia always insisted on its sovereignty over Kosovo.
